Hydrangea macrophylla 'Stragrum' Proven Winners® Color Choice® Wee Bit Grumpy® is commonly referred to as Wee Bit Grumpy® Hydrangea. This Proven Winners® Color Choice® selection is a sturdy and compact mophead hydrangea that will certainly put a smile on your face even if the name implies otherwise. It features moody, colorful flowers - deep purple-blue blooms in acidic soils and vivid pink blooms in more alkaline soils. It has a neat, mounding habit with dark green, glossy foliage that resists disease and is more cold-hardy compared to other hydrangeas.
Wee Bit Grumpy® Hydrangea is salt tolerant and thrives in partial sun and partial shade in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It reblooms on the current year's growth as well as new growth. Therefore, it is beneficial to prune immediately after flowering to control size and growth.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining, rich soil protected from the hot afternoon sun. For pink and blue Hydrangea macrophylla varieties, bloom color is pH-dependent; keep soil slightly acidic for blue tones or adjust toward neutral for pink. White varieties remain stable regardless of pH. Water consistently to maintain soil moisture, as this variety is sensitive to drying out. Mulch around the base to keep roots cool and moist.
