FOREVER PINK BIGLEAF HYDRANGEA

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Forever Pink' is commonly referred to as Forever Pink Hydrangea. This is one of the best dwarf Hydrangeas out there! It features a compact size of usually 3' tall and wide with bright pink or lavender flowers that turn rose-red in cooler weather. It is part of the hortensia or mophead group which form large balls of sterile florets. The soil pH determines its color range. Red to pink flowers occur in more alkaline soils while blue to lavender flowers occur in acidic soils. The addition of aluminum sulfate to the soil will encourage more vivid blue color and adding lime will produce pink flowers.

Forever Pink flowers earlier than other varieties and thrives in part sun in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Forever Pink is ideal massed in a shrub border or as a specimen/accent plant.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining, rich soil protected from the hot afternoon sun. For pink and blue Hydrangea macrophylla varieties, bloom color is pH-dependent; keep soil slightly acidic for blue tones or adjust toward neutral for pink. White varieties remain stable regardless of pH. Water consistently to maintain soil moisture, as this variety is sensitive to drying out. Mulch around the base to keep roots cool and moist.
