Zone: 5CHATEAU® DE CHANTILLY ROSE OF SHARON
Hibiscus syriacus Chateau® De Chantilly is an elegant deciduous shrub belonging to the Rose of Sharon family. It is admired for its bright, formal appearance and exceptional blooming season. It is fast-growing with an upright, vase-shaped habit, typically reaching 8 to 10 feet in height with a 3–4 foot spread, making it a wonderful specimen or hedge plant. Its most distinguishing feature is the large, single, exquisite white flowers that emerge in profusion, covering the stems from top to bottom throughout summer and into fall. Each white petal is perfectly set off by a deep, striking red-violet center, creating a stunning contrast that adds a sophisticated touch to garden borders and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.
Chateau® De Chantilly Rose of Sharon thrives in full sun (at least six hours of direct sunlight daily). It can tolerate partial shade, but flowering will be diminished. It is quite adaptable to various soil types, but the key is a moist, well-drained soil, as it will not tolerate sitting in standing water. Once established, it is moderately drought-tolerant, but regular watering is necessary during its first growing season and during periods of high heat and drought.
