CHATEAU® D'AMBOISE ROSE OF SHARON

Hibiscus syriacus 'Chateau D'Amboise' is more commonly known as Chateau® D'Amboise Rose of Sharon. It is a striking deciduous shrub celebrated for its abundant and long-lasting summer bloom. Part of the enchanting Chateau® series, it features an upright, vase-shaped habit, typically reaching 8 to 10 feet in height with a spread of 3 to 4 feet. Its most notable characteristic is its large, single, vibrant clear-pink flowers that cover the stems from early summer until the first frost. Each blossom is dramatically highlighted by a prominent, showy dark raspberry-red center, creating a high-impact focal point against the backdrop of its rich, dark green, lobed foliage.

Chateau D'Amboise Rose of Sharon is fast-growing and is a popular choice for borders, hedges, and island beds, where its showy blooms attract butterflies and hummingbirds. It thrives in full sun (at least six hours of direct sun daily) for the best flowering, although it can tolerate some partial shade. It is adaptable to most well-drained soils, including clay and sand, but thrives best in moist, organically rich soil. During the first growing season, water deeply and regularly to establish a strong root system; once established, it is fairly drought-tolerant but will appreciate moderate watering during prolonged dry spells.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Fertilize annually with a balanced fertilizer. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote new growth.
