BLACK BEAUTY CORAL BELLS
Heuchera 'Black Beauty' is a popular Coral Bells cultivar primarily grown for its exceptionally dark, highly ornamental foliage that provides deep contrast in the garden. This compact, semi-evergreen perennial forms a dense mound of shiny, dark purple-almost black, heavily ruffled leaves that have an attractive, ruby-red underside often visible from below. The foliage mound reaches a height of about 9-12 inches and spreads to about 16 inches, topped in late spring to early summer by slender, wiry stems bearing airy panicles of dainty, creamy white flowers that rise up to about 24 inches tall.
'Black Beauty' Coral Bells performs best in part shade in organically rich, well-drained soil, though it can tolerate full sun in northern climates if consistently watered. Hardy in USDA Zones 4 through 9, this low-maintenance, deer-resistant plant is an excellent choice for containers, border edging, and adding a year-round, dramatic color element to shaded landscape designs.
