Zone: 3BURNING HEARTS FALSE SUNFLOWER
Heliopsis scabra 'Burning Hearts' is more commonly known as Burning Hearts False Sunflower. The scabra variety differs from the species by having hairy and rough-textured (scabrous) leaves and stems with thicker leaves. These cultivars are more commonly grown in gardens than the species itself. Burning Hearts Heliopsis features dark purple foliage and stems with contrasting large blooms of yellow daisy-like petals with bright orange-red centers. Flowers attract bees, butterflies and birds.
Burning Hearts Heliopsis is deer resistant and thrives in full sun in organically rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It can be drought tolerant once it is established.
