Hakonechloa macra Lemon Zest™, more commonly known as Lemon Zest™ Japanese Forest Grass is a highly sought-after ornamental grass known for its vibrant foliage and graceful, cascading habit. It's a fantastic choice for adding a pop of color and texture to shady areas of the garden. It boasts bright chartreuse to lemon-yellow blades with striking ivory white variegation.

Hakonechloa macra Lemon Zest™ thrives in dappled shade, which mimics its native woodland habitat. Morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal. It enjoys moist, well-drained, organically fertile soil which a pH around 6.0-7.5 which is fairly common in garden soils.

Lemon Zest™ Hakonechloa is ideal in woodland gardens. Plant it under the canopy of deciduous trees where it receives filtered sunlight. Perfect for brightening up front or middle of borders that get some shade. This is a beautiful plant that provides a stunning display of color and texture.

It is slow-growing and requires minimal maintenance; simply cut back the old foliage to the ground in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges.
