Eucomis 'Safari Adventure' features wide, strap-shaped leaves that emerge in early summer with a burgundy-green hue, often developing a wine-colored blush. As summer progresses, the foliage may lighten to a deep green. The leaves form a rounded mound similar to a Bromeliad. In late summer to early fall its clusters of purple and white star flowers are held on tall, strong, dark purple stems that rise above the foliage. They strongly resemble pineapples.
Safari Adventure Pineapple Lily thrives in full sun to part shade in nutrient-rich, loamy, evenly moist, well-drained soil. Avoid soggy or water-logged conditions. This unique perennial brings a touch of the exotic tropics to the garden and makes a showy focal point.
