Diervilla rivularis 'SMNDRSF' PP27550 CBR#5938 Proven Winners® Color Choice® Kodiak® Black is commonly referred to as Kodiak® Black Diervilla. This tough, easy growing deciduous shrub is a Proven Winners® Color Choice® selection that features dark burgundy-black foliage that matures to bright red tones in fall. Its bright yellow flowers contrast nicely with the foliage and attract bees, butterflies and hummingbirds throughout the summer. It is one of the best shade tolerant shrubs, although foliage colors are more intense with sun.
Kodiak® Black Diervilla thrives in full to part sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is deer resistant and can be drought tolerant once established. It is ideal for erosion control plantings as well as borders and other mass plantings.
