Zone: 5KING OF HEARTS BLEEDING HEART
Dicentra formosa 'King of Hearts' is commonly referred to as King of Hearts Fern-Leaf Bleeding Heart. This vigorous, compact bushy perennial is noteworthy for arching sprays of rich carmine-rose heart-shaped flowers that fade to pink. It blooms over a long period of time from early summer to early fall. Feathery foliage is emerald green and has a low mounding habit.
King of Hearts Bleeding Heart thrives in partial shade in organically rich, neutral to slightly alkaline, moist, well-drained soils. Given adequate moisture, the foliage remains an attractive ground cover. It is ideal for shady areas and woodland gardens.
