PRETTY POPPERS® APPLEBLOSSOM BURST PINKS
Dianthus 'Appleblossom Burst' from the Pretty Poppers%#174 series is a compact perennial known for its heavy spring-to-summer display of semi-double, frilled blossoms that feature soft blush-pink petals with vibrant magenta centers. Held neatly above a mounding cushion of blue-green evergreen foliage, the fragrant, clove-scented flowers attract butterflies and bees while offering natural resistance to deer and rabbits. Reaching 9 to 12 inches tall and 15 to 18 inches wide, its sturdy stems, drought tolerance, and neat habit make it an ideal choice for formal borders, rock gardens, and low-maintenance container plantings.
'Appleblossom Burst' Dianthus thrives in a location that receives full sun to promote dense foliage and maximum bloom production. It requires sharp, well-draining soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH, as wet winter conditions and standing water will cause root and crown rot. Lightly deadheading the spent blooms after the main spring flush encourages occasional reblooming into late summer while maintaining a tight, clean evergreen mat throughout the remaining seasons.
