Unlike older, towering varieties that easily snap in the wind, 'Kingsley' was specifically bred for a sturdy, multi-branching, and compact habit, typically maxing out at a manageable 18 to 24 inches in height. From late spring through summer, its strong, upright stems rise above a lush mound of deeply lobed, dark green basal foliage to deliver an unforgettable floral show. The blooms themselves are striking, semi-double royal purple flowers intricately framed by vivid electric-blue edges, creating a vibrant two-toned effect that excels both in the border and as a premium cut flower.
To achieve that peak floral performance, the ideal spot for 'Kingsley' is a location with full sun to partial shade, ensuring it receives at least six hours of direct sunlight daily alongside excellent air circulation to stave off powdery mildew.
