LEYLAND CYPRESS

Cupressocyparis leylandii is commonly referred to as Leyland Cypress. This evergreen conifer tree is a fast-growing bi-generic fertile hybrid betweeen Monterey cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa) and nooka false cypress. It has a broad pyramidal habit and features sprays of gray-green foliage on slender, upright branches. Brown cones and scaly, reddish-brown bark also add to its features.

Leyland Cypress is tolerant of city environments and salt spray. It thrives in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils.
