PAULS SCARLET ENGLISH HAWTHORN
Paul's Scarlet Hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet') is a highly prized, award-winning, ornamental tree celebrated for its spectacular floral display and versatile use in the landscape. It boasts a profusion of double, rose-red to scarlet flowers that burst forth in mid-to-late spring. The blooms resemble miniature roses and create a stunning, long-lasting show that announces the arrival of summer.
Beyond its beautiful spring flowers, the tree offers glossy, dark green foliage throughout the summer months. In fall, it produces showy red fruits (haws) that persist into winter, providing food for birds and providing winter interest.
Paul's Scarlet Hawthorn is known for its hardiness and ability to thrive in a variety of conditions. It enjoys full sun to partial shade. Full sun encourages the most abundant flowering. It is adaptable to a variety of soil types, but does best in fertile, well-draining soils. Ideal as a specimen tree or as a screening or hedge.
