VANILLA SPICE® SUMMERSWEET

Clethra alnifolia 'Caleb' PP21589 Proven Winners® Color Choice® Vanilla Spice® features large, fragrant, white summertime flowers that are deer-resistant and attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. Individual florets are about double the size of other varieties!

Vanilla Spice® Summersweet enjoys full sun to part shade with acidic, moist, fertile soils. It can bloom in shade, but do not let the soil dry out. It is ideal for woodland areas, along streams and ponds and other naturalized, low-lying areas that stay moist.

Planting Tips ⓘ

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
