TRUE BLUE SAWARA CYPRESS

Chamaecyparis pisifera 'True Blue' is commonly referred to as True Blue Sawara Falsecypress. It is a sport of Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Boulevard' and is a miniature, upright, mounding Sawara cypress with dense branching and soft, long, powder-blue needles that are quite showy. This slow growing variety may only reach 2 feet tall and wide in 10 years. It responds well to shearing and can be used for topiary.

The True Blue Sawara Falsecypress enjoys full sun and moist, rich, well-drained soils.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Provide partial shade, especially during the first growing season. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote new growth.
