OKLAHOMA SPARKLER™ REDBUD
Oklahoma Sparkler™ Redbud (Cercis canadensis 'JN21') is a show-stopping ornamental tree celebrated for its dramatic, year-round color and compact stature. In early spring, its dark, zig-zagging branches are smothered in clusters of vivid, wine-red to lavender-pink flowers before the foliage even begins to stir. This cultivar is particularly prized for its glossy, heart-shaped leaves that emerge in a rich palette of burgundy and bronze, eventually maturing into a deep, lustrous emerald green. Its thick, waxy leaf texture, a hallmark of the Oklahoma lineage, not only gives it a high-end, polished look but also provides superior resistance to heat and leaf scorch compared to other redbud varieties.
Growing to a manageable height of roughly 12 feet, Oklahoma Sparkler™ is an exceptional choice for urban gardeners or those with limited landscape space. It maintains a naturally tidy, rounded canopy that requires minimal pruning, making it a low-maintenance "focal point" specimen for entryways or small patios. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it is remarkably resilient, thriving in Hardiness Zones 5 through 9 and showing a high tolerance for varying soil types as long as they are well-drained.
