FRESH LOOK GOLD COCKSCOMB
Celosia argentea cristata 'Fresh Look Gold' - often classified in the plumosa group for its beautifully structured, silky spikes - is an award-winning selection celebrated for its neat, well-branched habit and exceptional weather tolerance. Winning both the All-America Selections and Fleuroselect Gold Medal awards, 'Fresh Look Gold' reaches a height of 12 to 14 inches. It features lush, bright green foliage that stays clean and attractive all season, providing the perfect backdrop for its dense, pyramid-shaped plumes. The flowers are a luminous golden-yellow that completely avoids the muddy, washed-out look often found in lesser yellow cultivars, keeping its clear, sunny color from early summer straight through until frost.
'Fresh Look Gold' does not require deadheading as new growth quickly covers older blooms, keeping the plant looking pristine without extra maintenance. It thrives in full sun and demands well-drained soil, showing excellent resistance to fungal issues that can plague other compact varieties during heavy summer rains. Whether used for a bright ribbon of color along a walkway, a sunny accent in mixed containers, or an expansive commercial mass planting, it delivers a remarkably uniform, high-impact performance.
