SNOW FAIRY BLUEBEARD

Caryopteris divaricata 'Snow Fairy' is commonly referred to as Snow Fairy Caryopteris or Snow Fairy Bluebeard. It is a compact, mounding, deciduous shrub that features variegated cream and white, fragrant foliage. It has lavender-blue flowers in late summer to frost that attract birds, butterflies, bees and other beneficial pollinators. The flowers contrast nicely with its variegated foliage.

Snow Fairy Caryopteris is deer resistant and thrives in full sun and evenly moist, well-drained soils. It will not tolerate standing water. It is ideal for borders, foundation plantings, and butterfly gardens.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH, as these shrubs are highly intolerant of waterlogged winter conditions. Select a site that receives full sun to partial shade, noting that maximum sun exposure ensures the most prolific flowering and vibrant foliage color. Prune hard in early spring, cutting back to just above the new growth, to stimulate sturdy stems and prevent the plant from becoming woody or leggy. Apply a light layer of organic mulch to the root zone to retain moisture, ensuring the crown remains clear to prevent rot.
