DARK KNIGHT BLUEBEARD

Caryopteris x clandonensis 'Dark Knight' is commonly referred to as Dark Knight Bluebeard or Dark Knight Caryopteris. It is a highly versatile deciduous shrub that is more compact and upright than Caryopteris 'Blue Mist'. It features long blooming, dark blue to purple flowers in late summer and attracts butterflies, bees and other pollinators.

Dark Knight Caryopteris thrives in full sun and evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is ideal for cottage and rustic gardens as well as any spot that needs late season color.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH, as these shrubs are highly intolerant of waterlogged winter conditions. Select a site that receives full sun to partial shade, noting that maximum sun exposure ensures the most prolific flowering and vibrant foliage color. Prune hard in early spring, cutting back to just above the new growth, to stimulate sturdy stems and prevent the plant from becoming woody or leggy. Apply a light layer of organic mulch to the root zone to retain moisture, ensuring the crown remains clear to prevent rot.
