EVERCOLOR® EVERILLO JAPANESE SEDGE GRASS
Carex oshimensis 'Everillo' is a show-stopping member of the Evercolor® series, famous for its exceptionally bright, neon-colored foliage. This evergreen sedge forms a low, gracefully arching mound that typically reaches 9 to 12 inches in height and 24-30 inches in width. Its narrow, leathery blades emerge as a vibrant lime-green in the spring and quickly intensify into a brilliant, glowing golden-yellow as the season progresses. Because of its luminous color and weeping "fountain" habit, 'Everillo' is a premier choice for illuminating dark garden corners, cascading over the edges of modern containers, or creating a high-contrast groundcover in shaded landscapes.
Caring for 'Everillo' is remarkably simple, as it is a resilient and low-maintenance plant that thrives in partial to full shade. While it can tolerate some morning sun in cooler climates, intense afternoon sun can scorch its bright yellow blades, so a sheltered spot is best to maintain its vivid color. It performs most reliably in moist, well-drained soil and should not be allowed to dry out completely, though it is surprisingly adaptable once established. Because it is evergreen, you should avoid cutting the entire clump back to the ground in the spring; instead, simply "comb" through the foliage with your fingers or a small rake to remove any dead or tattered blades, keeping the mound looking fresh and vibrant for the new growing season.
