WINTERGREEN KOREAN BOXWOOD

Buxus microphylla var. koreana 'Wintergreen' is commonly referred to as Wintergreen Boxwood. It is a dense, compact evergreen shrub with dark green foliage and no bronzing in winter. It is a cross between Microphylla Japanese and Korean varieties.

Wintergreen Boxwood is cold hardy and thrives in full sun to partial shade. It enjoys average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It adapts well to pruning to control its size and shape. It has good resistance to insect pests such as leaf miner and boxwood mite.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil, selecting a location that offers full sun to partial shade. Buxus varieties are known for their shallow root systems, so consistent watering is vital to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during the first growing season. Prune as needed in late spring or early summer to maintain your desired form, avoiding late-season pruning which can stimulate new growth susceptible to winter damage.
