PUGSTER PICO PUNCH™ BUTTERFLY BUSH

Buddleia Pugster Pico Punch® is a true garden powerhouse with a massive floral footprint. This award-winning cultivar is famous for its short but sturdy stems that support oversized, vibrant magenta-pink flower spikes. Despite its smaller size - usually reaching a compact 2 feet tall and wide - the individual blooms are just as large as those found on full-sized butterfly bushes. The thick, rugged stems also provide better winter hardiness compared to other dwarf varieties, ensuring that its brilliant "punch" of color and rich fragrance return year after year to delight local butterflies and bees.

The ideal spot for Pugster Pico Punch® is any prominent, sun-drenched location such as a walkway border, a rock garden, or a decorative patio pot where you can enjoy its fragrance up close. To thrive, Pugster Pico Punch® requires full sun (at least 6 hours) and sharply drained soil; like most Buddleia, it will fail if left in standing water during the winter.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in fertile, well-draining soil, as this genus is particularly sensitive to root rot in water-logged conditions. Select a site with full sun, as maximum light exposure is critical for strong stem development and consistent flower production. Prune in early spring to remove dead wood and stimulate vigorous new growth, which ensures the plant remains compact and floriferous. Water regularly during the first growing season until established and consider deadheading throughout the summer to encourage a secondary flush of blooms.
