Begonia boliviensis Mistral™ Yellow is a bright, cheerful addition to the Mistral™ series, celebrated for its superb branching and naturally semi-trailing habit. It features the classic, wing-type boliviensis foliage - marked by elongated, pointed green leaves with clean, serrated edges. By early summer, the arching stems are heavily loaded with pendulous, trumpet-shaped flowers in a soft, sunny yellow. Because it naturally forms a dense, cascading mound that reaches 10 to 12 inches in height, it creates a striking "spiller" effect without looking sparse or leggy at the crown.
Mistral™ Yellow Begonia performs exceptionally well in locations with morning sun and afternoon shade, or under dapple-shaded canopies. While the Mistral™ series boasts good heat tolerance, protecting the soft yellow blooms from the brutal midday sun prevents the petals from bleaching or scorching. It is a premier choice for mixed containers, window boxes, and hanging baskets where the cascading blooms can take center stage. To keep it thriving, plant in a rich, highly porous, well-draining soil mix to avoid root rot, and maintain regular watering through the hot summer months. Regular feeding with a liquid fertilizer every few weeks will sustain its heavy, self-cleaning flower production right up until the autumn frost.
