ORANGE ICONIA BEGONIA

Begonia Iconia Orange is a premium vegetative variety that brings a luxurious, tropical flair to the shade garden. A standout in the contemporary Iconia lineup, it features dramatic, deeply serrated dark foliage with prominent veining that skews almost black. This dark, moody canvas creates a breathtaking contrast for the oversized, intense orange semi-double blooms that cover the plant from late spring through autumn. Growing with a robust, mounded yet slightly arching habit to about 12 to 16 inches tall, it provides a much more upscale, architectural texture than traditional bedding begonias.

This high-performance begonia is tailor-made for high-visibility locations in partial sun to full shade. The rich pigments in its dark leaves give it excellent stamina against fading, though it truly thrives where it is protected from the intense, scorching afternoon sun. In the landscape, it is an absolute star as a "thriller" or heavy "filler" in premium patio containers, window boxes, and hanging baskets where its heavy flowers can arch gracefully over the edges. It requires a light, porous, and well-drained soil mix to prevent crown rot, along with consistent but controlled watering - allowing the top inch of soil to dry before watering again. Feed every two weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer to sustain its dramatic foliage and heavy, continuous blooming cycle.
