Begonia Dragon Wing Red is a legendary performer in the horticultural world, known for its incredible vigor and arching, cane-like habit. This interspecific hybrid features large, glossy, wing-shaped leaves in a deep forest green that provide a lush, tropical feel to any setting. Throughout the growing season, it produces massive clusters of pendant, scarlet-red flowers that drape elegantly from the stems. Because it is sterile, the plant puts all its energy into continuous blooming rather than seed production, and it is self-cleaning, so there is no need for tedious deadheading to keep it looking sharp.
Dragon Wing Red Begonia is exceptionally adaptable and thrives in conditions ranging from full sun to full shade, though its foliage stays its deepest green when given some protection from the intense afternoon sun. In the landscape, it is a premier choice for large hanging baskets, tall patio "thriller" containers, or as a massive, 15 to 18 inch tall groundcover in garden beds.
