Zone: 9MISTRAL™ ORANGE BOLIVIENSIS BEGONIA
Begonia boliviensis Mistral™ Orange is a striking tuberous variety known for its elegant, cascading habit and vibrant floral display. Unlike the upright mound of the 'Big' series, the Mistral series features elongated, serrated green leaves on arching stems that spill beautifully over the edges of containers. It is smothered in slender, bell-shaped blooms in a bright, fiery orange that persist throughout the summer. Because of its naturally trailing form, it is a premier choice for hanging baskets, window boxes, or the edges of raised retaining walls.
Mistal™ Orange Begonia thrives in bright, indirect light or partial sun, though it typically appreciates some afternoon shade in hotter regions to protect its delicate foliage. It is important to plant it in a light, airy potting mix that provides excellent drainage, as the Mistral™ series is sensitive to over-watering. To keep the plant vigorous, maintain a regular watering schedule - allowing the surface of the soil to dry slightly - and use a liquid fertilizer every few weeks.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Provide partial shade to prevent scorching. It is generally self-cleaning, making it a low-maintenance option for adding a tropical, high-energy pop of color to the landscape.
