FRONDS FOREVER LADY FERN

Athyrium 'Fronds Forever' is a robust and visually stunning hybrid lady fern that is specifically bred for its exceptional vigor and longevity in the landscape. It features the classic, lacy, and finely bi-pinnate foliage characteristic of the genus, but with a more structural and upright mounding habit. Fronds emerge in a vibrant, silvery-green shade that maintains its freshness much longer into the summer than many other deciduous ferns. Its dense growth pattern makes it an excellent choice for creating a lush, textured understory in woodland settings or for adding a soft, feathery fringe to the base of taller shrubs.

To keep 'Fronds Forever' thriving, it should be planted in a spot that offers part to full shade, as the delicate foliage can easily scorch if exposed to intense midday sun. It prefers consistently moist, humus-rich soil that is well-drained, as it does not like to sit in waterlogged earth. It is particularly valued for its improved tolerance to environmental stress, but it still performs best when provided with a sheltered location away from drying winds.

Planting Tips

To help Athyrium settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in rich, humus-heavy soil that is moist but well-draining. Athyrium thrive in consistent moisture and require good drainage to prevent the crown from rotting in heavy, compacted clays. Provide a location with partial to full shade - consistent shade helps protect the delicate fronds from scorching. Mulch around the base to keep the root zone cool and retain moisture.
