MAGGIE DALEY CHINESE FALSE SPIREA
Astilbe chinensis 'Maggie Dailey' is commonly referred to as Maggie Dailey Chinese Astilbe or Maggie Dailey Chinese False Spirea. It is a herbaceous, late blooming perennial that features extra fuzzy, bright hot pink flower plumes atop coarsely textured, clump-forming, bronze-green foliage. It is shorter than Astilbe pumila and makes an excellent groundcover with a height of only 24-30 inches tall and a spread of 18-24 inches. Flowers are long-lasting and attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators.
Maggie Dailey Chinese Astilbe is pest and disease free and thrives in dappled shade in humus rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils.
Companion plants for Astilbe include: Rhododendron, Hosta, Ferns, Heuchera, Ligularia and Japanese and Siberian Iris.
