TUBEROSA MILKWEED

Asclepias tuberosa is commonly referred to as Butterfly Weed, Milkweed, Pleurisy Root, Swallow Root, Indian Potato and Indian Paintbrush. This native herbaceous perennial is easy to grow and hassle-free. It features bright orange to yellow-orange flower clusters from June through September. Flowers attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators. Flowers also provide valuable nectar for many bees and butterflies and are a valuable food source for the Monarch Butterfly larvae. Dark green, lance-shaped leaves provide a showy contrast to its floral display.

Butterfly Weed thrives in full sun in average, moist, well-drained soils. It is ideal for beds, borders and other sunny, naturalized areas.
