ANGELFLARE™ BLACK SUMMER SNAPDRAGON

Angelonia Angelflare™ Black is a sophisticated addition to the "Summer Snapdragon" family, distinguished by its exceptionally deep, dusky purple blooms that appear nearly black. These velvety flowers are densely packed along upright spikes, rising above narrow, lance-shaped green foliage. Reaching a height of 8 to 12 inches with a similar spread, it offers a dramatic, dark accent that provides a striking contrast when planted alongside silver, white, or neon-green companions. Unlike many other flowering annuals, its stems are sturdy and do not require staking, maintaining a clean and architectural look throughout the heat of the season.

To keep Angelonia Angelflare™ Black performing at its peak, it should be placed in a spot that receives full sun, which intensifies the dark pigmentation of the blossoms. It is highly resilient, possessing excellent tolerance for both high heat and humidity, making it a reliable choice for summer landscapes and patio containers. While it prefers well-drained soil and regular watering, it can handle brief periods of drought once its root system is established.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Water regularly but avoid overwatering. Provide full sun to partial shade. No deadheading is necessary as the plant is "self-cleaning," but a light trim in mid-summer can help maintain a tidy shape and encourage a fresh wave of blooms that will last until the first frost.
