Alcea rosea 'Mars Magic' is commonly referred to as Mars Magic Hollyhock. This classic is part of the Spotlight® collection that features single, bright red flowers with lemon throats on tall, sturdy stalks from midsummer to fall. Other varieties of the Spotlight® collection feature deep purple, red, pink, yellow and white flowers. The Spotlight® Hollyhock varieties are truly perennials, not biennials. They easily grow under Black Walnut trees which is welcome. This old favorite attracts bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinators.
Mars Magic Hollyhock thrives in full sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It does not tolerate cold winter soils. It is rabbit resistant and looks terrific in beds, borders and cottage gardens.
