CRIMSON SUNSET® SHANTUNG MAPLE

The Crimson Sunset® Maple is noteworthy for its excellent heat tolerance. It flourishes in the summer heat where few purple leafed plants will grow. Foliage resembles 'Crimson King' but its form is more upright and compact.

The Crimson Sunset® is a hybrid cross between Acer truncatum x Acer platanoides. It thrives in average, well-drained soil in full to part sun. It makes a stunning addition to any landscape. Give it plenty of room to grow as it will get approximately 30 feet tall and wide.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
