TROMPENBURG JAPANESE MAPLE

Acer palmatum x shirasawanum 'Trompenburg' is commonly referred to as Trompenburg Japanese Maple. It is a deciduous shrub or small tree with an upright habit. It is a hybrid with Acer shirasawanum that features large pointed, sharply-serrated, lobed leaves that curl under creating a unique hand-like effect. Early spring brings emerging deep purple-red foliage that persists through summer. In autumn leaves turn brilliant red before their fall.

Trompenburg Japanese Maple is low maintenance and requires little pruning. It thrives in full to partial sun in rich, organically rich, slightly acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soils.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
