OMURE YAMA JAPANESE MAPLE

Acer palmatum 'Omure Yama' is a beautiful Japanese Maple often referred to as the 'weeping willow' of maples due to its unique, pendulous growth habit. Unlike many weeping maples that stay low to the ground in a mounding habit, 'Omure Yama' grows upright with a strong central leader before its long, slender branches arch outward and cascade down. It typically reaches a mature height of 15 feet with a 12-foot spread, creating a soft, umbrella-like silhouette. The deeply divided, palm-shaped leaves emerge a bright lime green with hints of orange in the spring, maturing to a rich emerald in summer, and finally transforming into a breathtaking display of brilliant gold, fiery orange, and crimson in the fall.

Omure Yama Japanese Maple thrives in dappled shade or a location that receives morning sun and afternoon protection, especially in hotter climates where the delicate leaf tips can scorch. It enjoys moist, organically rich, and well-drained soil with a slightly acidic pH. While it is hardy in Zones 5-9, it should be sited in a spot protected from strong, drying winds as they can damage its branches.
