Autumn Fantasy® Maple (Acer x freemanii 'DTR 102' PP7,655) is a fast-growing hybrid maple that combines the best traits of its parents: the structural strength of the Red Maple and the rapid growth of the Silver Maple. Autumn Fantasy® widely celebrated for its consistent, showy fall display, where its deeply lobed green leaves transform into a brilliant, saturated ruby-red. It naturally develops a very tidy, broadly oval to symmetrical crown that provides excellent shade. Beyond its beauty, Autumn Fantasy® is praised for its sturdy branch structure, which makes it much more resistant to wind and ice damage than many other fast-growing shade trees.
Autumn Fantasy® maple is remarkably strong and adaptable to a wide range of environments. It thrives in full sun and is highly tolerant of various soil conditions, including heavy clay and alkaline soils, and it can even handle brief periods of drought or standing water once established.
