COMPACT BURNING BUSH

Euonymus alatus 'Compactus' is commonly referred to as the Compact Burning Bush or Compact Winged Spindle Tree. This is a very popular, compact, spreading, deciduous shrub that draws everyone in with its hardiness and its impressive scarlet red fall color. It has elliptic, green leaves in spring and summer that turns vivid red in fall.

The Compact Burning Bush enjoys full to part sun in average, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Full shade can be tolerated, however, it will not display the vivid colors in fall.

Planting Tips

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Water regularly, but avoid overwatering. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and promote healthy growth.
