LILIUM ORI SUNNY MARTINIQUE
Grower Notes:

The Lilium orientalis 'Sunny Martinique' is part of the Sunny™ series and is a high-impact, dwarf Oriental lily known for its extra-large, strongly fragrant blooms on a compact plant, making it a favorite for patio containers and garden borders. Part of the Lily Looks™ series, 'Sunny Martinique' features deep pink-red, star-shaped flowers with beautifully contrasting white margins on the petals. It is a reliable, late-summer bloomer that typically reaches a height of 15 to 18 inches, producing 4–7 large flowers per sturdy stem. Its intense sweet fragrance and robust nature ensure it delivers a show-stopping display in any sunny location.

For optimal growth (hardy in Zones 3-9), plant 'Sunny Martinique' in full sun to light shade and in a well-drained, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. Deep planting helps stabilize the plant, eliminating the need for staking. Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season and apply a mulch layer to help keep the roots cool, which Oriental lilies prefer. After the flowering period, remove the spent blooms (deadhead), but resist cutting back the foliage until it has fully yellowed and died back in the fall; this allows the bulb to store energy for a strong return of its dazzling and aromatic flowers next summer.

Asiatic Lily
Asiatic Lilies are native to several areas of Asia. They are easy to care for and the earliest to bloom in the Lily family. Asiatics are fragrance free and come in so many vibrant colors - some even have double blooms! They thrive in all types of soil as long as it is well-drained (add some sand for drainage). These lilies multiply quickly and their bulbs can double every season.

LA Hybrid Lily
L.A. Hybrid Lilies were introduce back in 1992 and are a cross between longiflorum lilies (Easter Lily) and Asiatic hybrids. They get their trumpet shape and longer vase life from the longiflorum, and their warmer flower colors and upward-facing habit from the Asiatic. They have strong, sturdy stems for cutting and are perfect in containers, beds and borders.

Oriental Lily
Oriental Lilies are native to Japan. They are late bloomers - blooming when Asiatic lilies start to fade. They grow considerably taller than Asiatics and are perfect for cut flowers due to their thick, strong stems and heavily fragrance. Yes - they are very fragrant! Their leaves are wider and grows more heart-shaped and their flowers are star-shaped. Their bulbs multiply slower than Asiatic lilies and thrive in well-drained, organic soil.
