LIGULARIA STE LITTLE ROCKET
Grower Notes:

The 'Little Rocket' Ligularia (Ligularia stenocephala 'Little Rocket') is a showy perennial known for bringing a tropical feel and vertical interest to the shade garden. It is a compact form, typically reaching about 3 to 4 feet in height, making it well-suited for smaller spaces, borders, or even large containers. Its foliage is one of its main attractions: large, rich green, arrowhead-shaped leaves with saw-toothed edges create a bold, coarse texture. In mid to late summer, the plant sends up sturdy, deep burgundy-purple flower spikes that rise dramatically above the foliage, densely packed with bright, lemon-yellow, daisy-like blossoms, creating a spectacular display that also attracts butterflies.

Ligularia 'Little Rocket' thrives in partial shade in evenly moist, nutrient-rich, well-drained soil. It is an excellent choice for stream banks, bog gardens, or other naturally damp areas. To maintain plant vigor, deadhead spent flower stalks to encourage new growth or a possible second, smaller bloom. It is generally low-maintenance, but gardeners should watch for slugs and snails, which can damage the tender foliage, and should cut back the dead foliage in late fall or early spring.
