LIGULARIA DEN BRITT-M CRAWFORD
Grower Notes:

Ligularia dentata 'Britt-Marie Crawford', commonly called Bigleaf Ligularia or Leopard Plant or Britt Crawford Ragwort, is a stunning herbaceous perennial celebrated for its dramatic foliage and bold golden-orange to deep yellow flowers in mid to late summer. It forms a mounded clump of large, glossy, orbicular-reniform leaves that are a distinctive, deep chocolate-maroon to purple-black color, with rich purple undersides. It provides exceptional contrast in the garden, particularly when paired with plants that have bright green or chartreuse foliage. In mid to late summer, purplish-black stems rise above the dark mound, showcasing clusters of daisy-like flowers in shades of golden-orange and yellow, adding a vibrant pop of color to the late summer shade garden.

'Britt-Marie Crawford' thrives in a consistently moist environment. It will do well in partial shade with morning sun to enhance the deep leaf color but sheltered from the hot afternoon sun to prevent wilting and leaf scorch. Soil should be rich, fertile, and kept consistently moist. It will struggle if the soil dries out. It is an excellent choice for bog gardens, rain gardens, or along streams and ponds. Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage a tidier appearance and possibly a smaller, second bloom.
