KNIPHOFIA FLAMENCO
Grower Notes:

The Kniphofia 'Flamenco', commonly known as Red Hot Poker or Torch Lily, is a vibrant herbaceous perennial celebrated for its dramatic, bottlebrush-like flower spikes. This award-winning cultivar is prized for its beautiful multi-colored blooms, featuring a blend of fiery red, orange, and yellow tubular flowers that often create a two-toned effect as the buds mature. Rising above tufts of long, narrow, grass-like, semi-evergreen foliage, flower scapes reach heights of about 2 to 4 feet. Blooming from early to late summer, 'Flamenco' is a favorite for adding a strong vertical accent and a dazzling splash of warm color to borders and garden beds. In addition to its ornamental value, it is a significant attractor of hummingbirds and butterflies, while also being notably resistant to deer and rabbits.

Kniphofia 'Flamenco' is easy to care for. It thrives in full sun (at least six hours per day) and requires a moist, but very well-drained soil. Good drainage is crucial, especially in winter, to prevent root or crown rot, which can be fatal. Remove spent flower spikes (deadheading) at the base to encourage continued blooming. Don't forget to divide the clumps every few years in spring to help maintain the plant's health and vigor.
