Zone: FLAMETHROWER™ HABANERO PAINTED NETTLE
FlameThrower™ Habanero Coleus is a striking, low-maintenance annual that immediately draws the eye with its bold, textural foliage. It is celebrated for its deeply lobed, lanceolate leaves that feature a vivid gradient of burnt orange, fiery red, and deep burgundy. Unlike older coleus varieties that were strictly shade plants, the FlameThrower™ series was bred for exceptional versatility and late flowering, meaning the plant directs its energy into producing vibrant, serrated leaves rather than early blooms. Its naturally compact and mounding habit, typically reaching 12 to 18 inches in height and spread, makes it a premium choice for adding intense, season-long color to mixed containers, hanging baskets, or high-impact commercial and residential border plantings.
To get the most out of FlameThrower™ Habanero, position it in an ideal spot that receives partial sun to dappled shade, though its modern breeding gives it excellent full-sun tolerance as long as adequate moisture is provided.

To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. The key to maintaining its robust health and striking coloration is consistently moist, rich, and well-draining soil; waterlogging will quickly lead to root rot. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer at planting, or use a diluted liquid feed every few weeks to fuel its rapid foliar growth. If the plant begins to stretch or look leggy late in the season, simply pinch back the growing tips just above a leaf node to encourage lateral branching and a bushier, more compact form.
