Unlike older coleus varieties that were strictly shade plants, the FlameThrower™ series was bred for exceptional versatility and late flowering, meaning the plant directs its energy into producing vibrant, serrated leaves rather than early blooms. To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. The key to maintaining its robust health and striking coloration is consistently moist, rich, and well-draining soil; waterlogging will quickly lead to root rot. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer at planting, or use a diluted liquid feed every few weeks to fuel its rapid foliar growth. If the plant begins to stretch or look leggy late in the season, simply pinch back the growing tips just above a leaf node to encourage lateral branching and a bushier, more compact form.
