To help this plant settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in acidic (pH 4.5-6.0), well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Plant shallow - the top of the root ball should sit 1 to 2 inches above the soil level; never bury the crown. Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Apply 2 to 3 inches of pine mulch, keeping it away from the stem. Ensure deep watering in late autumn before the ground freezes to prevent winter desiccation.
