PEACH BLOSSOM FALSE SPIREA

Astilbe japonica 'Peach Blossom' is commonly referred to as Peach Blossom False Spirea. Peach Blossom is a hybrid which is often listed as a japonica cultivar or a x rosea cultivar. It is an easy to grow, compact variety with abundant, light pink plumes over bronze-green, fern-like foliage. Blooming in early summer, their densely packed flower panicles attract butterflies and hummingbirds throughout the growing season. In fall the flower plumes turn a rich caramel color heading into the cool winter months.

Peach Blossom Astilbe is deer and rabbit resistant and thrives in full to partial shade in rich, fertile, evenly moist, well-drained soils. It is ideal for shady perennial or woodland borders. Companion plants for Astilbe include: Rhododendron, Hosta, Ferns, Heuchera, Ligularia and Japanese and Siberian Iris.

Planting Tips

To help Astilbe japonica types settle in and thrive, we recommend these standard planting practices: Plant in moist, rich soil with a slightly acidic pH, and ensure it receives dappled shade. Astilbe japonica types are often earlier to bloom than the Arendsii hybrids so if the soil dries out early in the season, the plant will struggle to push out its blooms.
