HORSERADISH
Armoracia rusticana is commonly referred to as Horseradish. It is a perennial or also known as a coarse vegetable that is grown for its pungent roots which are harvested to make strong and spicy relishes and sauces. It is an extremely vigorous plant that crowds out most weeds with a fast spreading growth habit particularly if the roots are not harvested every year. It is a hermaphrodite species which has both male and female organs and pollinated by bees, flies and beetles. It is self-fertile.
Horseradish thrives in full to part sun in evenly moist, sandy, well-drained soils.
