Angelonia angustifolia Serenita® Purple is a graceful, more compact version of the summer snapdragon, specifically bred to maintain a tidy and elegant mounded shape. Reaching a mature height of only 12 to 14 inches, it produces elegant, deep purple flower spikes that are tightly packed with blossoms. Its fine-textured, dark green foliage provides a dense backdrop, making the rich purple hues appear even more saturated. Because of its smaller stature and naturally well-branched habit, it is an ideal selection for the front of garden borders, low-profile bedding displays, or as a refined filler in smaller decorative containers.
To ensure Serenita® Purple remains vigorous and full, it should be planted in a spot that receives full sun, which helps prevent the stems from stretching. It is renowned for its durability, as it is highly resistant to heat, humidity, and even brief periods of drought once the root system is established. It thrives in well-drained soil and, while it is a relatively low-maintenance "self-cleaning" plant, providing a balanced liquid fertilizer every two to three weeks will support a continuous display of blooms. Because it maintains such a compact and uniform height, it is a perfect choice for creating clean lines and consistent color in a landscape from late spring all the way through the first hard frost.
