BERLINERS WEEPER SERBIAN SPRUCE
Picea omorika 'Berliner's Weeper' ('Berliner's Weeper' Serbian Spruce) is a striking and dramatic cultivar of the Serbian Spruce, renowned for its distinctively narrow, upright silhouette and steeply drooping branches. This "weeper" features a strong central leader that drives the tree upward while the secondary branches hang almost vertically against the trunk. Its foliage is beautifully two-toned. The needles are a deep, glossy green on the top side with silvery-blue bands underneath.
Berliner's Weeper Spruce is surprisingly tough and adaptable, thriving in full sun and preferring well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil. One of its greatest strengths is its ability to tolerate urban pollution and alkaline soils better than many other spruces.
Berliner's Weeper Spruce is ideal as a vertical accent or "living sculpture" in small gardens or narrow spaces where a wide-spreading tree wouldn't fit. Its slender footprint makes it perfect for framing entryways, standing as a lone specimen in a courtyard, or adding height to the back of a mixed border.
