FLOWER POWER SUMMER PHLOX

Phlox maculata 'Flower Power' is a striking, early-blooming Meadow Phlox known for its impressively large, conical flower heads that can reach up to 12 inches in length. These fragrant clusters are composed of delicate white blossoms accented by soft pink eyes, creating a romantic, bicolor effect in the garden. Growing to a sturdy height of 36-42 inches, this cultivar is particularly valued for its glossy, dark green foliage and its stems that are naturally resistant to the "leaf spot" issues that often plague other phlox species.

The ideal spot for 'Flower Power' is a sunny to partially shaded location with rich, organic soil that stays consistently moist. Unlike the woodland varieties, 'Flower Power' loves the sun but appreciates some light afternoon shade in hotter climates to preserve the clarity of its blooms. To keep it healthy, ensure the soil is well-drained and provide supplemental water during dry summer stretches. Removing the spent flower spikes promptly will not only keep the plant looking tidy but also encourage a potential secondary flush of blooms later in the season.
