ALICE DU PONT MANDEVILLA

Mandevilla 'Alice du Pont' is a classic, vigorous climbing vine renowned for its prolific summer display of large, trumpet-shaped flowers. These blossoms feature a luminous rose-pink hue with a golden throat, often reaching up to 4 inches across, and they emit a subtle, sweet fragrance. The plant's lush, tropical appearance is further enhanced by its glossy, dark green oval leaves, which are deeply veined and provide a leathery texture. Because of its fast growth rate and twining habit, it is an ideal choice for quickly covering trellises, arbors, or fences, adding an elegant, vertical dimension to sun-drenched spaces.

For 'Alice du Pont' to flourish, it requires an ideal spot in full sun, though it can benefit from a bit of light afternoon shade in exceptionally hot climates. It thrives in well-drained, fertile potting mix or garden soil and needs consistent moisture; however, the soil should be allowed to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. As a heavy feeder, it performs best with regular applications of a high-phosphorus fertilizer throughout the growing season to sustain its continuous blooming. In cooler regions, this Mandevilla is typically treated as an annual or brought indoors for the winter, as it is frost-tender and prefers temperatures to remain above 50F degrees.
