CASA BLANCA ORIENTAL LILY

Lilium orientalis 'Casa Blanca' is a classic, towering Oriental lily prized for its pure elegance and sweet fragrance, making it a favorite for both garden borders and cut flower arrangements. This vigorous perennial produces massive, outward-facing, snow-white flowers—often up to 10 inches across—with gracefully recurved petals and contrasting reddish-brown anthers, crowning sturdy stems that reach 3 to 4 feet in height in mid to late summer (USDA Zones 4–9). It thrives in full sun to part shade, ideally where the foliage gets sun, but the roots remain cool (a layer of mulch helps achieve this). 'Casa Blanca' lily thrives in rich, consistently moist, well-drained soil, as its bulb is highly susceptible to rot in heavy or waterlogged conditions.

Once established, 'Casa Blanca' is remarkably low-maintenance, requiring only regular watering throughout the growing season and an annual application of balanced fertilizer in the spring. After the spectacular bloom ends, it is crucial to deadhead the spent flowers but leave the foliage intact until it naturally turns yellow and dies back completely in the fall; this allows the leaves to gather energy to sustain the bulb for the following season. Taller stems may occasionally need staking in exposed sites, and in colder zones, a protective layer of mulch should be added in late fall.

Asiatic Lily
Asiatic Lilies are native to several areas of Asia. They are easy to care for and the earliest to bloom in the Lily family. Asiatics are fragrance free and come in so many vibrant colors - some even have double blooms! They thrive in all types of soil as long as it is well-drained (add some sand for drainage). These lilies multiply quickly and their bulbs can double every season.

LA Hybrid Lily
L.A. Hybrid Lilies were introduce back in 1992 and are a cross between longiflorum lilies (Easter Lily) and Asiatic hybrids. They get their trumpet shape and longer vase life from the longiflorum, and their warmer flower colors and upward-facing habit from the Asiatic. They have strong, sturdy stems for cutting and are perfect in containers, beds and borders.

Oriental Lily
Oriental Lilies are native to Japan. They are late bloomers - blooming when Asiatic lilies start to fade. They grow considerably taller than Asiatics and are perfect for cut flowers due to their thick, strong stems and heavily fragrance. Yes - they are very fragrant! Their leaves are wider and grows more heart-shaped and their flowers are star-shaped. Their bulbs multiply slower than Asiatic lilies and thrive in well-drained, organic soil.
